Job Shadows, Career Report, and Reflective Essay
Job Shadow
For my two job shadows, I decided to go and visit the Conway Springs Animal Clinic and my local extension agents.
At my first job shadow, I got to watch different surgeries on animals, how they prescribe their patients medicine, and how to keep their office clean and under control. I also got to see how they do regular check ups and how they prescribe the diagnosis on their patients.
My second job shadow, I shadowed my extension agents. Randy Hein showed me how they keep their paperwork on different farmers crops and bug problems. Erin Struble showed me how she kept paperwork on all of the 4 h kids and their families and which projects that they have done at their local fairs and what projects get sent to the state fair. And Bernadette Love showed me how she keeps their website updated and events that she keeps updated on the website.

Reflective Essay
I learned many things throughout my years here. I learned how to be able to solve problems, learn from my mistakes, and be an independent person. My years in high school were hard at times, I had to adapt to a new world almost immediately and learn how to be successful at such a young age. Thanks to my teachers, I learned how to figure out different problems and how to be successful in a small business.
In the beginning, it was very challenging. I was an outcast thrown into a whirlwind of mixed emotions from other people and I was very confused with their behaviors and their actions. Many times, I was left out of even the smallest things and I was excluded from even different activities and I was made fun of for loving to read books, loving Star Wars and loving Doctor Who, but I have learned from my hardships and I have become very successful in different things.
I joined many different clubs and I became very involved in sports. Most of all I loved to participate in forensics, I was able to show different emotions in my acting to bring to life different characters and I was happy to be able to go to state for two years. Another activity that I really enjoyed was band, I loved to play different pieces of music and learn new techniques to be a better instrument player.
Since I was young I had a fascination in all types of animals and when I was around eight years old I joined my local 4-H club. My very first project was showing meat goats, I learned how to take care of them and how to train them for the county fair that summer. I also learned how to sew, cook, take photos, work bucket calves, and how to crochet. Since I’ve been in 4-H for ten years now, I have accomplished many goals in my years in my club. I have been the historian for my club for years, I have qualified many years to attend the state fair and model, and when I was younger I received grand champion for my young bull bucket calf. I also was given a spot with the 4-H ambassadors, who help decided on changes that should or shouldn’t be made to make the fair more presentable and more functional for the people with projects and also towards the public.
Since I have worked and lived with animals all my life, I have decided that when I go off to college that I would become a veterinarian. Ever since I was little, I learned many different things that each animal needed to be happy and healthy, and what they needed to accomplish those tasks. When I would go to the vet with my dad at such a young age, the vets that we went to would tell me how give the animal their medicine and make them feel better. Thanks to them, I fell even more in love with the topic and I was encouraged by my local vets to shoot for my dream and accomplish it.
In conclusion, thanks to many of the problems that occured in my years in high school, I was able to persevere through and accomplish many things. I have also become a leader, role model to younger kids, and am becoming a successful person.
